Welcome to the Church of the Most Holy Trinity
Welcome to the WebPages of Holy Trinity Church, Webster NY. Here you will find information about our devoted parish family. We are the oldest and therefore the mother Catholic parish of the Webster area. We were established in 1861 and are soon coming to our 150th anniversary.
The present church building was built in 1901 and was dedicated on Holy Trinity Sunday that year. Along with the first school and church dedicated on the same feast 40 years earlier, this spot has been a sacred place for area Catholics all these years. Here we have celebrated the presence of Christ, life and death, love and joy for so long. If these walls could only talk ...
The original parishioners were immigrants from Germany with a smattering of Irish to boot. The closest Catholic Church was the German Redemptorist Church of St. Joseph in the city of Rochester 10 miles away. Hearty Webster Catholics traveled there with regularity. It was over a century before this parish had a non-German pastor. He was Rev. William M. Hart (hidden under that name was a very German mother) coming in 1969...
Webster changed from a quiet farming community to a busy suburb in the 1960's with the arrival of the Xerox Corporation in Holy Trinity's back yard. Many people also moved out from the city to this suburb called the place where "Life is worth living!" The area still has a number of farms and open areas.
I humbly follow in the footsteps of our ancestors who have gone before us. We welcome the many new parishioners who have swelled our numbers to over 2000 families. I rejoice in the many who minister to the many deeds of our parish and fill the gap of fewer priests in today's church. We have a dedicated and hard working staff here bringing Christ's message to all and reaching out to the troubled. Check out our web pages and acquaint yourself with our people who minister here.
Come join us and dedicate yourselves to worshiping with and working with our parish family. I came here as a young assistant pastor in 1969. It is wonderful to come back after 30 years and see how the grace of God has kept this parish family alive. Come grow with us in wisdom and grace. As it says on our cornerstone. As it says on our cornerstone: "Praise be to God one and three!" Peace, Fr. Bill Michatek.
